Leading Innovative Pharmaceuticals Production in Georgia

Founded in 1999, JSC BioChimPharm (BCP) is a Georgian-based, biotechnology SME engaged in R&D, production and marketing of alternatives to antibiotics, contributing to counteracting the worldwide trend of antibiotic resistance. For the development of its innovative products, the company use bacteriophages, which are the natural enemies of bacteria. The Company possesses unique technological know-how and over 80 years of accumulated experience in R&D and the production of antibiotic alternatives. BCP is ISO 9001certified, has 45 people employees, produces 12 registered products and owns two international patents. With two investments financed by the EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line, the company upgraded its laboratories and also installed an integrated line for washing, sterilizing, filling and closing of vials, which meets the highest standards. The combined investments ensure improved health and safety of workers, reduction of waste and wastewater normally produced in the production process, as well as reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions reduction. The increased capacity and quality standards resulting from the investments enables the company to hire additional employees and to expand its export activities to EU countries.

Furthermore, after the successful implementation and verification of this project, the company received 15% of the loan value as a grant incentive, funded under the EU4Business initiative of the European Union.

With the implementation of this project, the company now meets wide variety of European standards, including:
