Nestled in the fertile lands of Zugdidi, Georgia, West Best Blueberry Plant is a dynamic agro-business specializing in the cultivation and processing of premium blueberries. With a strong focus on quality and sustainability, the company has become a promising player in Georgia’s agricultural sector, contributing to both local employment and export growth.
Driven by the desire to modernize operations and reduce its environmental footprint, the company made the strategic decision to switch to solar energy. To support this green transition, West Best Blueberry Plant partnered with the EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line, a programme designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises in Georgia upgrade their production in line with EU standards.
With financing provided through TBC Bank, the company invested in high-efficiency solar panels and energy systems. These improvements not only enhanced the company’s energy independence but also aligned its operations with environmentally responsible practices.
After the successful completion of the project verification process, the company received 10% of the loan amount as an investment incentive funded by the European Union.
The project was verified under the EaP SMEC Facility, confirming full compliance with the programme’s environmental, safety, and legal standards. No risks or issues were identified, underscoring the company’s readiness to embrace modern, EU-compliant solutions.
