LTD Clean Global Investment: Revitalizing Georgia’s Herbal Industry with Modern Processing Technologies

Located in a rural village in Georgia’s mountainous region, Clean Global Investment is a modern herbal processing company that brings together generations of experience in agriculture and pharmacy. Founded in 2022, the company focuses on cultivating and processing medicinal plants and spices—including licorice root, thyme, rosemary, valerian, and others—for the pharmaceutical, food, and beverage industries. Driven by a vision of combining Georgia’s rich natural resources with European production standards, the company built a modern processing facility in 2023–2024 and launched operations in 2025. It works closely with nearby villages and independent harvesters, directly supporting around 40–50 local people and helping to sustain livelihoods in a community of just 800 inhabitants. To meet the increasing international demand for high-quality, contamination-free herbs, Clean Global Investment purchased new production equipment, a crucial step toward meeting EU market requirements. The new line includes equipment for washing, drying, cutting, and sorting of various types of herbs. Financed through a EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line loan, Clean Global Investment enhanced its technological capacity, ensuring consistent quality and improved efficiency of its operations. After successful project verification, the company received 10% of the loan amount as an investment incentive funded by the European Union. The investment was confirmed as fully compliant, with no environmental or operational risks identified—demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainability, product excellence, and rural development. Thanks to the EBRD and EU support, Clean Global Investment has:

  • Upgraded its production with modern, efficient machinery
  • Improved product quality to meet strict European standards
  • Expanded export potential to European markets, including Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France
  • Created income opportunities for dozens of families in Georgia’s rural areas
